I am so exhausted, and it’s wonderful.
My best friend Hannah came back home on Saturday for 10 days, after moving to Melbourne to go to university. Last night, we went out for cider at Red Brick Road and to the cinema to see Inside Out.
The verdict on the movie? 10 out of 10. So simultaneously adorable, heart-wrenching, educational, thought-provoking and generally sweet. I am so totally not an animated movie kinda gal, but my word, Inside Out pulled on my heartstrings. Good job, Pixar.
Anyway, I’m exhausted. We didn’t get back home until 11:30pm (which is already past my sadly early bed time), after which time we still squeezed in a game of Cards Against Humanity and a rum & cranberry before heading to bed.
Today, we went to our favourite coffee shop together, sussed out our city’s new macaron place and drank a litre of smoothie. Which I would think is a pretty solid effort.
So, in light of that smoothie-drinking adventure, I thought I’d share my favourite smoothie recipe. It’s my go-to smoothie recipe on days when I feel like a energy-boosting breakfast, a filling snack or, on the case of this photo, a light dinner after a day of indulging.
~Just a disclosure I am not being paid in any way by Bare Blends to promote them in this post, I just honestly love their protein powders so much!~
- 250ml almond milk
- 1/2 banana
- Handful of baby spinach
- 2 tbsp Bare Blends Organic Vanilla Bean WPI
- 1/2 tbsp coconut oil
- 1/2 tbsp chia seeds
- 1/2 tbsp flax seeds
- 1 tsp maca powder
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
Place all ingredients into a high-powered blender and blitz until liquified. Drink up!
If you want a decadent chocolate version, just add 1/2 tbsp cacao powder to the ingredients. For a tasty berry-nana version, just add in 1/4 cup of berries.
This smoothie recipe is an adaptation of Bare Blends’ green smoothie recipe, check out their website for more protein powder recipe inspiration!
Honestly, this smoothie recipe is such a pick-me-up thanks to the spinach and maca powder and keeps you feeling satisfied for hours thanks to the WPI and the coconut oil. It’s a win-win! What is your go-to smoothie recipe?
Now, I’m off to bed at 7pm at night. Sleep is calling me.
