So it’s happened. Months and months of looking, dreaming, inspecting and pinning a crapload of Scandi interiors to various Pinterest boards has come to an end in an utterly perfect way. Chris and I have entered the world of first home buyers.
Yep. So we’re first home buyers. Which still sounds weird to me, but also completely awesome. Not to mention that now I can cross this point off my 30 Before 30 list. Yay!
It’s a unit on the other side of town from where we’re currently living, and it’s pretty much everything we’ve wanted. It’s light-filled and cozy and has views to die for over the river. I will never get sick of watching the boats go past. It’s got a garden and the perfect tea-sipping balcony. We’ve also got a nearly direct view to our current home from the balcony. Mum and I reckon we’re going to buy torches and send morse code signals to each other at nighttime.
We don’t move in for a while yet. There are tenants in there until the start of next year, which is helping us to offset the costs of paying off our mortgage, which is something totally new and incredibly odd for us. Really, we’re being eased in to it gently, so we’re very lucky.
Chris and I have so many plans and ideas for this new home. We’re very ambitious, perhaps too much so, but we can’t wait to get started on all our ideas. What’s something you’ve done to your home – an improvement, a DIY project, a larger reno – that you love? Let me know the info in the comments below! I’d love some inspiration. Also, tell me about your adventures as first home buyers!
I can’t wait to share with you all the things to come with this little home of ours.
Thanks for being along for the journey.

We are so proud of you both! Morse code will be fun, I’d better get practising. and buy a bigger torch :0
Ahhhhh I thought I had already said this but it looks like I didn’t…. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Super excited for you — I’m past 30 and haven’t hit that particular life-achievement yet. ;P
Thanks, Sarah! We’re so excited!
Not to worry about hitting that milestone – the market where we are is quite good, so we’ve been very lucky. My fingers are crossed for you!
